Here in Japan, we have a custom to exchange a card in the mid-summer saying "Good wishes in this hot summer" for years. The weather is really hard to survive, the heat and high humidity!!Here I found some cute stickers of the summer greeting. Goldfish is one of the symbolic animal for the summer. Very popular during the season and you see it everywhere you go, on postcards, ads, magazines, books, etc. Cute, eh?

We have been experiencing similar hot and humid days in England, it has been hardwork in a stuffy office. The storms came today. We don't have a pleasant custom like your to helps us through.

It's impossible to translate into English as we Japanese use the phrases to send the summer wish cards. Umm, it measn "I care about you in this hot summer", like that!
are you really suggesting a postcard swap? think we don´t have such very pretty cards here, but surely i can check for some nice ones ^^
